COMMANDER’S CORNER

Hello everyone,

We have made repairs to our building and some areas have had updated equipment and we are planning on making other updates in the future.
My fellow Legion members, we need your help! As our members depart to post everlasting, we need to replace them with new members to help our post and community. Our membership is on the decline. Our activities at the post need your help; therefore as potential new members see us doing things and activities, they in turn will want to participate. Now that I have your attention and you now want to help, please call the post and we will get back with you or give me a call and I will assist you.
The Honor guard always needs help; call the post and leave a message and we will call you.
The house committee and club company have been doing a great job in keeping the post running as difficulties arise. Thank you!
We had a great time giving teachers at local elementary schools a word of thanks for all they do during Valentine’s week; Barrett Scott, Howard Marotto, Rich Mortland, Pat Patterson, and Randy Dunbar, stepped up; if you want to know more give them a call, thank you.
We are teaming up with the Salvation Army Massillon on March 23rd for an Easter egg hunt at 1pm. Please call the post on how many kids you are bringing or call or email me . The Salvation Army number is (330) 833-6473; located at 315 6th street NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646.

Family game nights are coming back, the events will be posted and the time will be 6pm at the post. Come down and let your kids play and you can relax, play cards or other table games, or just socializes; hope to see you here.
The chili cook off is coming up March 9th at noon. If you think you can make a mean chili,” BRING IT ON!” We will have fundraiser with it as well.
Corn hole is coming back as we are playing at the post on first and third Thursdays of the month. The Department of Ohio American Legion is coming to Massillon for corn hole tournament on April 20th, starting at noon. $15.00 person, $30.00 per team, we hope to see our members there for food and fun…
Hello members; “Sending you good thoughts—and hoping you believe in yourself just as much as I believe in you”.
My gunnery sergeant and I were inspecting a Marine training exercise when we spotted a second lieutenant ambling about. “Where is your foxhole, lieutenant?” I asked. He snapped off a salute and responded, “I don’t know, sir!” Turning to the sergeant, he asked,
“Gunnery, where is my foxhole?”“You’re standing in it, sir,” said the sergeant. “All you have to do is remove the dirt.”( Ret. Lt. Col. Joseph Como,Greenwood, South Carolina)
“If this didn’t make you smile, let me know, and I will send you my senior yearbook picture instead.
