COMMANDER’S COMMENTS

Hello everyone,
As we begin to prepare for the warmer weather, spring time events are in the final planning stages, and we will get the info out ASAP.
When you or anyone you know is ready to join the Honor Guard and Color Guard, please let us know as we have had some movement in our ranks. As members of our American Legion, I challenge you to participate with our Honor Guard; for only a couple hours it will have an everlasting effect with the families of our members who have moved on to post everlasting.

I would like to give a thank you shout out to Mark Weldon, Jerry Yochum, and Bob Emmert for their work on post administration, post operational maintenance, post and tavern events.
We are doing teachers appreciation week May 6th to the 10th. As the schools do follow ups with me I will relay the information and have time and dates posted.  If anyone has an idea for family game nights please let us know.
Corn-hole is starting up again as we meet on 1st and 3rd Thursdays in the evening. I have also contacted our local schools about starting high school corn-hole, maybe at the post.
I hope to see you on Memorial Day, either for on the float or at the event downtown.
I had a great time visiting the scouts for their 105th birthday event; we were happy to help the scouts go to camp this year.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” —Steve Jobs
It was our first day on the rifle range at Lackland Air Force Base. I felt confident as I aimed and squeezed the trigger of my carbine for my first shot. “Good news and bad news,” my instructor said. “The good news: You got a bull’s eye.” Before my head could swell too much, he added, “But it was in somebody else’s target.” —Gene Newman
